Arrival by car

"Panoramic and individual " on vacation

Traveling by car to your vacation in the Hohe Tauern National Park is probably the most scenic option. The roads that take you to the Hohe Tauern National Park all lead through magnificent landscapes and breathtaking nature.

If you are coming from the north, there are various options open to you. The A10 Tauernautobahn takes you quickly and directly to the south, but is also very popular and particularly busy at weekends at the beginning or end of the vacations. For a more individual journey, drive through the Gastein Valley and join the car train in Böckstein, which will take you safely and quickly via the car lock to Mallnitz train station.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
The ÖBB Tauern Tunnel is completely closed from 18.11.2024 to 04.07.2025 due to maintenance work in the tunnel. Further information on the closure can be found HERE

Breathtaking views also await you on the journey via the Felbertauern Road through the tunnel of the same name. If you are coming from the west, we recommend traveling via South and East Tyrol through the Pustertal valley. From the east, you can reach the Mölltal via the A2 Südautobahn and the Villach junction. If you are coming from the south, take the SS52 over the Plöcken Pass or the A2 via Tarvisio and Arnoldstein.
