Spring customs

The night from April 30 to May 1 marks an important custom in our region. On the evening of April 30, the maypole is ceremoniously erected, which must then be safely guarded the following night. The boys from the surrounding villages are just waiting to find an opportunity to steal the maypole. The funny thing is, while they are on their way to steal the tree, they can't guard their own place! The summer solstice on June 21 is another important event. On this day, summer is welcomed to our region with an impressive bonfire.

Brass music & folk dance

The traditional bands of the seven Mölltal municipalities are known far beyond the borders of our region. With their spring concerts and the Cäcilia concerts, they herald the start and end of a series of musical events every year.

The musicians delight audiences with their traditional sounds at church consecrations, harvest festivals and many more. The annual "Days of Brass Music" start at 06:00 in the morning with the traditional "wake-up call". The bands then parade through the villages and are treated to food and drink. The Schuhplattler and folk dance groups also captivate guests at numerous events, as tradition surpasses every trend. The rural youth groups are also known for keeping old customs and traditions alive.

FUN and ENTERTAINMENT are very important on the Alpen-Kilt hike!
Whether young or old, alone or in a team (up to 4 participants), everyone is welcome to take part in our hike. For those who would like to come alone or in pairs, we offer the opportunity to join a full team of 4 on site.
The conditions of participation are simple: bring a good mood and observe our loosely interpreted "dress code". A kilt is not a must, but we welcome plaid leggings or shirts, dirndls or lederhosen.

The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting darker!

With St. Martin's Day approaching in November, we are gearing up for special culinary delights. Around St. Martin's Day, you can enjoy delicious "Ganseln" in numerous inns and taverns - simply delicious.

The children are full of anticipation as they parade from house to house with their homemade lanterns. Their excitement increases even more when the "smoke nights" begin and various ghoulish figures roam the night. They then get up to mischief at numerous Krampus and Perchten runs.
The most famous Krampus run takes place on December 27 in Mallnitz - the Perchtenmania. Over 30 groups parade through the village and can be admired.
